So while seeing Sunshines and Oranges and Harry Potter are on my to-do list … there is only one film coming out in the next few weeks that the whole family will be going to and that is Cars 2. I am really looking forward to it. While it is something that we will have to plan (it will be the first time that I have taken him to a film for him to see) and do the right way .. I just know that it is going to be something that both LittleMan and LittleMiss will really enjoy.
So if you have been living under a rock … or just do not have children under 10, Cars 2 is the much anticipated sequel to the movie, Cars, and comes from Pixar the creators of some of the best movies for little people like the Toy Story series, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Finding Nemo, a Bug’s Life and UP.
Cars 2 takes star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) to exciting new places when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.
LittleMan loves Cars. He is addicted and has been for a long time. I know that he will enjoy seeing the new Cars movie. However I also know that he will not be able to sit still for the whole movie. This is just one of the challenges he faces with his Autism. He wouldn’t be able to do that for a normal film and he definitely will not be able to do this for Cars. He will just be too excited. So what to do … the plan therefore is to take him to a session at Reading Cinema at Rhodes with a Crying Room.
Why use the Crying Room? The Crying Rooms are sound-proofed and positioned in the prime viewing area of the two largest auditoriums. IMHO Crying Rooms are the perfect solution for parents with active children (and with Autism that just can’t sit) to enjoy the latest movies in comfort. Tickets are also at standard prices, so you can take the whole family, let them enjoy them film in their own way and not disturb the whole cinema. Perfect … well that is the plan.
Now the hard part for us in the lead up to the film … while LittleMan and LittleMiss aren’t yet able to understand the idea that the film is coming out yet (and get overly excited) … They have noticed all of the new merchandising and toys. Last weekend we took the kids to the Parramatta Westfield (I know crazy) for some sale shopping … and you should have seen how his face just lit up as we walked past Toys’R’Us and he saw the massive Cars 2 display. There was no way that we would be able to walk past. He was just soo excited. It was really nice to see .. and as we use Cars toys in his ABA therapy that made it a bit easier to justify getting some Cars toys for him to play with … well that is my excuse and I am stickying with it
